Feast for cy­cle fans as Wheel­ers head for hills

CY­CLING fans are urged to wrap up warm and enjoy front row seats at the Mac­cles­field Wheel­ers’ Su­pacross.

The race, which sees cy­clists lap a short cir­cuit fea­tur­ing pave­ments, trails, steep hills and ob­sta­cles, is be­ing held at South Park on Mon­day, De­cem­ber 28.

It’s be­ing or­gan­ised by the Mac­cles­field Wheel­ers cy­cling club, and is round 12 of the North West Cy­clocross league, sup­ported by Cy­cle­store. co.uk and Brew­tique.

Rac­ing starts from 10.45am for the ‘Nim­rod’ Un­der 16 race and 11.30am for the U12s.

The U10s race be­gins at noon, and the U8s at 12.15pm – with new com­peti­tors un­der 12 wel­come to have a go.

The ‘Brew­tique’ Vet/ Women’s race is at 12.45 and the se­nior men race at 2.15pm.

Ruth Gamwell, or­gan­iser, said: “At­tract­ing the best cy­clocross riders from across the north west in all cat­e­gories, the rac­ing is set to be hard and fast, with a course that is a firm favourite with the riders.

“We are look­ing to make it more of a com­mu­nity event with supporters in the park.

“So come down and enjoy the hard and fast sport of Cy­clocross in the beau­ti­ful sur­round­ings of South Park.”
