Hundreds of kids to benefit from charity toy appeal
A FUNDRAISING appeal to provide toys for needy children has smashed its target thanks to readers.
The Macclesfield Express joined forces with the Community and Voluntary Service (CVS) Cheshire East and asked people to donate toys to families who may be facing a hard time this Christmas.
And with more than 2,300 toys collected, everyone on their list will be getting something to smile about on the big day.
Sally Davies, marketing manager for CVS, said: “We’ve been able to help 51 organisations across Cheshire East which is just fantastic.
“We would like to give a huge thank you to all those who donated toys and gifts to their 2015 Christmas Toy Appeal. The response has been overwhelming and all the toys received will now be on their way to good homes this Christmas.”
Many donations were made to the MAC Multi-Activity Centre in Macclesfield and almost half of the 2,300 toys received came from staff at AstraZeneca’s Alderley Park.
Thanks to the generosity of people across Cheshire East, CVS has this year had some left over to give to other needy children.
