‘Lost earrings’ feature in town centre art

Macclesfield Express - - MACABRE MACCLESFIELD – PART FIVE -

SHOPPERS were treated to a display of award winning art in a pop up gallery over Christmas.

An 8ft tall chandelier, made entirely out of the ‘spare’ earrings - left useless after the loss of the other half of their pair - was at the Macc Art Lounge in the Grosvenor Centre for a week.

It was funded though Macclesfield Town Council’s community grant scheme and support from the Grosvenor Centre.

Coun Chris Andrew, Chairman of the town council’s Finance Committee, said: “The installation is a great addition to the town for the run up to Christmas and I hope as many people as possible took the opportunity to view and enjoy the exhibition.”

The Chandelier of Lost Earrings was created by Lauren Sagar and Sharon Campbell and won a National Lottery Good Causes Award and British Women Artists Competition 2015.

Macclesfield Town Council’s Community Grants Scheme has also supported the Macclesfield Barnaby Festival, Food4Macc, Friends of Victoria Park and an exhibition relating to conscientious objectors in the First World War.
