£2,500 boost will help close gap in learning
A PROJECT which helps disadvantaged children has been given a £2,500 funding boost.
The cash came from the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s Crime Prevention Fund.
The Closing the Gap Summer School, based at Macclesfield Academy, will be used to raise the attainment of pupils by providing them with experiences and encounters to enhance their understanding of cultures, heritage and public institutions while also building their self-confidence.
Laura Halsall head of school at Macclesfield Academy said: “The money will enable us to close the gap for children who are transferring to The Macclesfield Academy in 2016.
“Summer schools are an amazing way to ensure that students settle in to the academy family and start to make progress from day one.”
