Lara makes it a hat-trick
FALLIBROOME Cross Country runner, Lara Crawford, completed the Cheshire Championship triple in grand style.
Having won the under 11 girls in 2014 and under 12 girls in 2015, last Saturday saw her repeat the performance, again in the under 13-year category.
In a close finish she showed why she’s a winner, digging deep to hang on to the lead she’d held for most of the race around a very muddy and wet 2.5km course, set in the fields around Reaseheath College near Nantwich.
Lara’s Sale Harriers’ coach Richard Goddard had predicted before the race that Lara would be a ‘tough cookie to beat’ following her three victories so far this season in the Manchester Area Cross Country League.
The Fallibroome year 8 pupil will now go on to run in the North of England Cross Country Championships at the end of January, hoping to gain a top three position before progressing to the national championships in February.
Lara is a competitive swimmer with Satellites Swimming club in Macclesfield and hopes to progress into triathlon competitions later this year after a little more practice on the bike in the hills around Rainow, where she lives.
