Turner’s ea­ger to tred new ter­ri­tory

RHYS Turner is ex­cited to play for a team chas­ing pro­mo­tion for the first time in his ca­reer af­ter join­ing Mac­cles­field Town on loan.

The 20-year-old has joined un­til the end of the month from League One side Old­ham Ath­letic.

Turner be­gan his ca­reer at Stock­port be­fore join­ing Old­ham, and also had a loan spell at York City ear­lier this sea­son.

All of those teams have had mixed for­tunes in the league, and Turner is look­ing for­ward to ex­pe­ri­enc­ing some­thing dif­fer­ent.

“I’ve not played for a team that is do­ing well be­fore as ev­ery team I’ve played for has been strug­gling,” he said.

“It’s al­ways been an up­hill grind so hope­fully for Mac­cles­field it can be a smoother ride.

“Now I’m here I’m buzzing and I need to do well for Macc by get­ting a few games un­der my belt and scor­ing a few goals, then we’ll see what hap­pens at the end of this month.”

Turner met with Mac­cles­field man­ager John Askey prior to sign­ing, and he re­vealed it was an easy de­ci­sion af­ter meet­ing the boss.
