A&E FEARS

PA­TIENTS are urged to stay away from A&E un­less its an emer­gency af­ter thou­sands of un­nec­es­sary vis­its last win­ter.

It has been re­vealed that more than 3,300 peo­ple who vis­ited A&E at Mac­cles­field Hos­pi­tal be­tween Novem­ber 2014 and Fe­bru­ary 2015 needed no treat­ment apart from in­for­ma­tion and ad­vice. Many had com­mon ail­ments like coughs and colds.

Health bosses are urg­ing peo­ple to think care­fully be­fore go­ing to A&E.

Mac­cles­field MP David Rut­ley has joined the cam­paign.

He said: “It is vi­tal peo­ple go­ing to A&E should be those who re­ally need its ser­vices.”
