Flippin’ heck! It’s time for pancake race!
TEAMS from businesses, clubs and organisations across Macclesfield are invited to flip their way to victory in this year’s Macclesfield Pancake Race.
Those who enter to race through the town centre tossing pancakes will raise money for health services and equipment at the hospital.
The Shrove Tuesday event, which this year falls on February 9, sees competitors sprinting up and down Mill Street while tossing pancakes in frying pans. Macclesfield’s businesses, clubs and organisations are urged to promote themselves, have fun and support local health services at the same time by entering a team of two people or more. Registration costs £15 per team and organisers ask that team members aim to raise £100 in sponsorship money between them.
The event is being run by ECHO – the official charity of East Cheshire NHS Trust, which runs local health services including Macclesfield District General Hospital.
Any funds raised for ECHO go towards providing the equipment, treatment and staff development at Macclesfield District General Hospital and in other community healthcare services.
Fancy dress is not compulsory but is encouraged with fun costumes having become a fixture.
A number of prizes will be on offer and Silk FM will be on hand to compere and keep the crowds entertained.
Registration takes place outside the town hall at 10.30am and the first race is at 11.30am. The races should be completed by 1pm so the event can fit around the working day.
To register, or for more information, call 01625 661184 or email ecntstaff. email@example.com.
Pans and real pancakes will be provided and volunteers from the Rotary Club of Macclesfield Castle will provide stewards.
