A GRIEVING woman assaulted a landlady after a funeral, a court heard.
Helen Kay Green, 47, verbally abused and hit Wendy Ann Smith, landlady of The Swan with Two Necks in Macclesfield, when she was asked to leave the pub.
The scuffle happened after Green leapt up on the stage where a band were playing on December 23.
Green, of West Bond Street, admitted assault at Macclesfield magistrates.
Debbie Byrne, prosecuting, said: “The defendant was refused any further alcohol due to being too intoxicated and was asked to leave.
“She refused to leave and got up on the stage and started being abusive. The defendant started flailing her arms around and hit the landlady in the face.”
Jenny Fields, defending, said Green was ashamed and embarrassed by her behaviour, adding: “She had been to her cousin’s funeral, who had been killed in a car crash. It wasn’t an intentional punch.”
Magistrate fined Green £120 and ordered her to pay £75 compensation.
