Artist’s gift is close to her heart

A PAINTER whose artwork featured in a local art competition has donated the proceeds of its sale to charity.

Liz Watkin, 58, from Hurdsfield, donated the £100 for her mixed media collage ‘Cottage’, at the Macclesfield Open Art exhibition, to the Macclesfield and district branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Liz studied fine art at university and enjoys working with mixed media and creating collages and abstract painting. She said: “I donated the money to the MS Society because I have family members with MS. My late aunt Marie always tried to make the most of life and continued to do things she enjoyed like writing poetry. My brother-in-law, Phil, has also suffered with MS for years. I’m happy my artwork enabled me to help the MS Society as they do such great work and support so many people with this illness.”
