●● VIL­LAGERS are swot­ting up in prepa­ra­tion for the an­nual Sut­ton and Lan­g­ley Quiz Chal­lenge. The quiz will take place at Lan­g­ley Methodist Church Hall on Fri­day, Jan­uary 29. Teams of four peo­ple are en­ter­ing the con­test. En­trance costs £3 per per­son which in­cludes tea or coffee and bis­cuits.

To take part and sup­port the com­mu­nity con­tact Peter of Gwen New­man on 01260 252769 or sign up on the list at the back of the church. Those who can’t find enough team mem­bers are in­vited to at­tend and be co-opted into a team. All pro­ceeds from the event go to Ac­tion for Chil­dren. ●● THE MID-morn­ing Sun­day ser­vice at Sut­ton St James Church will re­vert back to a 10.30am start time.

The change will take place from Sun­day, Fe­bru­ary 7. ●● RE­SULTS of sur­veys for the re­de­vel­op­ment of Lan­g­ley Play­ing Field are be­ing as­sessed.

The field is be­ing over­hauled with a pot of £30,000 Sec­tion 106 money given to Cheshire East coun­cil to be spent on ameni­ties and chil­dren’s play ar­eas in the vil­lage.

The play­ing field has a few items of new play equip­ment from an ear­lier phase of im­prove­ments and fur­ther im­prove­ments will in­clude more play equip­ment, other ameni­ties and bet­ter sig­nage. Email play­grounds@ sut­ton­
