Pupils strike gold in video competition
PRIMARY school children were treated to a visit from and Olympic gold medalist after impressing judges with their own sporting prowess.
The sports ambassadors at St John The Evangelist Primary School came second in a video competition to show the work they do to promote sport and healthy lifestyles at the school.
As part of their prize, they were treated to a visit from swimmer Rebecca Adlington, who spoke about her career.
Rebecca has won dozens of medals in the sport, with two gold at the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing.
Spence Sivewright, who teaches sport at the Ivy Road School, said: “Rebecca spoke inspirationally about pursuing dreams and persevering before visiting all the classrooms.”
