Pupils strike gold in video com­pe­ti­tion

PRI­MARY school chil­dren were treated to a visit from and Olympic gold medal­ist af­ter im­press­ing judges with their own sport­ing prow­ess.

The sports am­bas­sadors at St John The Evan­ge­list Pri­mary School came se­cond in a video com­pe­ti­tion to show the work they do to pro­mote sport and healthy life­styles at the school.

As part of their prize, they were treated to a visit from swim­mer Re­becca Adling­ton, who spoke about her ca­reer.

Re­becca has won dozens of medals in the sport, with two gold at the 2008 Olympic games in Bei­jing.

Spence Sivewright, who teaches sport at the Ivy Road School, said: “Re­becca spoke in­spi­ra­tionally about pur­su­ing dreams and per­se­ver­ing be­fore vis­it­ing all the class­rooms.”
