Name: Ju­lian Hubball Which or­gan­i­sa­tion are you in­volved with?: Mac­cles­field Com­mu­nity Gar­den Cen­tre – a day ser­vice for adults who have learn­ing dis­abil­i­ties. I have been in­volved for sev­eral years now – I got in­volved be­cause I wanted a new ex­pe­ri­ence. One door closed, an­other one opened for me! What do you en­joy most about your role there?: love be­ing part of the com­mu­nity. I have grown in con­fi­dence, I like mix­ing with peo­ple. I en­joy work­ing in the craft shack, do­ing wood­work and plant­ing and re­ally en­joy trips out. I find it ther­a­peu­tic and have made friends along the way.

IWhat has been your most fun­ni­est mo­ment along the way?: We have lots of dif­fer­ent dogs here and they make me laugh ev­ery day. They are friendly and funny. Where is your favourite place in Mac­cles­field?: Jack Sev­ens – the staff are re­ally nice and make me feel wel­come. Ideally how would you spend ev­ery day?: I have my ideal world al­ready, go­ing to Mac­cles­field Com­mu­nity Gar­den Cen­tre and spend­ing other days with my sup­port staff and vis­it­ing my fam­ily. What was the best hol­i­day you have been on?: I love go­ing to Llan­dudno, but also stay­ing over at my brother’s house when he isn’t too busy. If money were no ob­ject, what would you do?: I would spend it on clothes, mu­sic, hol­i­days and vis­it­ing cafés. What one piece of ad­vice would you give?: Al­ways be kind to peo­ple, be gen­er­ous and give them con­fi­dence and trust. What is on your CD / MP3 player?: Pet Shop Boys, Nik Ker­shaw and Howard Jones (their newer ma­te­rial). What is your favourite TV show?: An­tiques Road­show. What are you read­ing at the mo­ment?: I like read­ing about mu­sic. I could tell you ev­ery chart’s Num­ber One from the 70s to the present day! What is your big­gest in­spi­ra­tion?: I am in­spired by my friends at Mac­cles­field Com­mu­nity Gar­den Cen­tre, in­clud­ing my good friends Eleanor, Tim and Adrian. Who would you like to in­vite to din­ner?: Matt Lu­cas, he is re­ally funny! Mac­cles­field Com­mu­nity Gar­den Cen­tre is a day ser­vice for adults with learn­ing dis­abil­i­ties, based in West Park. Our shop is open Mon­day – Fri­day, 10am-3pm from April to De­cem­ber, and we al­ways in­ter­ested in hear­ing from new peo­ple who may wish to ac­cess our ser­vice or who would like to vol­un­teer along­side our trainees.
