Name: Julian Hubball Which organisation are you involved with?: Macclesfield Community Garden Centre – a day service for adults who have learning disabilities. I have been involved for several years now – I got involved because I wanted a new experience. One door closed, another one opened for me! What do you enjoy most about your role there?: love being part of the community. I have grown in confidence, I like mixing with people. I enjoy working in the craft shack, doing woodwork and planting and really enjoy trips out. I find it therapeutic and have made friends along the way.
IWhat has been your most funniest moment along the way?: We have lots of different dogs here and they make me laugh every day. They are friendly and funny. Where is your favourite place in Macclesfield?: Jack Sevens – the staff are really nice and make me feel welcome. Ideally how would you spend every day?: I have my ideal world already, going to Macclesfield Community Garden Centre and spending other days with my support staff and visiting my family. What was the best holiday you have been on?: I love going to Llandudno, but also staying over at my brother’s house when he isn’t too busy. If money were no object, what would you do?: I would spend it on clothes, music, holidays and visiting cafés. What one piece of advice would you give?: Always be kind to people, be generous and give them confidence and trust. What is on your CD / MP3 player?: Pet Shop Boys, Nik Kershaw and Howard Jones (their newer material). What is your favourite TV show?: Antiques Roadshow. What are you reading at the moment?: I like reading about music. I could tell you every chart’s Number One from the 70s to the present day! What is your biggest inspiration?: I am inspired by my friends at Macclesfield Community Garden Centre, including my good friends Eleanor, Tim and Adrian. Who would you like to invite to dinner?: Matt Lucas, he is really funny! Macclesfield Community Garden Centre is a day service for adults with learning disabilities, based in West Park. Our shop is open Monday – Friday, 10am-3pm from April to December, and we always interested in hearing from new people who may wish to access our service or who would like to volunteer alongside our trainees.
