HUNDREDS of spectators and 12 teams of flippers turned out for the biggest and best pancake race the town has seen in years.

Forty-eight competitors from businesses, clubs and organisations across Macclesfield grabbed their pans and pancakes and raced up and down Mill Street for the Mac- clesfield Pancake Race.

Hundreds of pounds were raised for ECHO, the charity of East Cheshire NHS Trust, providing equipment, treatment and staff development for Macclesfield District General Hospital and other community healthcare services.

Morphman also took the fancy dress crown with their portrayals of Morph, the TV plasticine creation of the late Tony Hart.

Silk FM provided music while the Mayor of Macclesfield Coun Liz Dur- ham presented the race prizes.

Fiona Doorey, ECHO’s fundraising manager, said: “This is the third year we’ve run the event and the best yet.”
