Musical invite to jam night
THE DEADLINE is approaching to nominate the pride of Macclesfield for this year’s Civic Awards.
Mayor of Macclesfield coun Liz Durham is taking nominations for those who have made a difference in the community. She says she is keen to celebrate those people who make a difference by volunteering time to provide community based services, improve amenities or help others in need.
There is a final call for nominations ahead of the deadline on Friday, February 19.
Coun Durham said: “We’ve had nominations coming in but would like to hear from anyone else MUSICIANS are invited to new jam sessions at a pub. Kelvin Leathem and his fellow musicians from the Ragtag band kicked off acoustic jam sessions at the Bulls who would like to put forward someone for the good work they’re doing in the town.
“The Civic Awards is a marvellous opportunity to reward volunteers who invest in Macclesfield.
“Hard work and dedication of volunteers makes a positive difference for many; improving local cohesion, feelings of pride and community spirit.”
Winners will be invited to an Award Ceremony in April at Macclesfield Town Hall.

Head, Broken Cross, on Monday, February 1 and will run the event on the first Monday of each month. Kelvin said: “It’s open to the public and musicians of all genres to get together and have fun. So if you sing or play an instrument come along and join us.”
The next session is on Monday, March 7, at 8pm.
