Mu­si­cal in­vite to jam night

THE DEAD­LINE is ap­proach­ing to nom­i­nate the pride of Mac­cles­field for this year’s Civic Awards.

Mayor of Mac­cles­field coun Liz Durham is tak­ing nom­i­na­tions for those who have made a dif­fer­ence in the com­mu­nity. She says she is keen to cel­e­brate those peo­ple who make a dif­fer­ence by vol­un­teer­ing time to pro­vide com­mu­nity based ser­vices, im­prove ameni­ties or help oth­ers in need.

There is a fi­nal call for nom­i­na­tions ahead of the dead­line on Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 19.

Coun Durham said: “We’ve had nom­i­na­tions com­ing in but would like to hear from any­one else MU­SI­CIANS are in­vited to new jam ses­sions at a pub. Kelvin Leathem and his fel­low mu­si­cians from the Rag­tag band kicked off acous­tic jam ses­sions at the Bulls who would like to put for­ward some­one for the good work they’re do­ing in the town.

“The Civic Awards is a mar­vel­lous op­por­tu­nity to re­ward vol­un­teers who in­vest in Mac­cles­field.

“Hard work and ded­i­ca­tion of vol­un­teers makes a pos­i­tive dif­fer­ence for many; im­prov­ing lo­cal co­he­sion, feel­ings of pride and com­mu­nity spirit.”

Win­ners will be in­vited to an Award Cer­e­mony in April at Mac­cles­field Town Hall.

Head, Bro­ken Cross, on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 1 and will run the event on the first Mon­day of each month. Kelvin said: “It’s open to the pub­lic and mu­si­cians of all gen­res to get to­gether and have fun. So if you sing or play an in­stru­ment come along and join us.”

The next ses­sion is on Mon­day, March 7, at 8pm.
