Growth spurt as food firm turns 21

A FOOD in­gre­di­ents dis­trib­u­tor has dou­ble the rea­son to cel­e­brate as it marks 21 years in busi­ness and sales of more than £13m.

Di­rect Food In­gre­di­ents, based on Wa­ters Green, has an­nounced a 52 per cent an­nual like-for-like growth and £13.7m of sales in 2015.

It is now look­ing to the year ahead, predicting a fur­ther 30pc growth in 2016.

The firm was es­tab­lished by found­ing di­rec­tor Steve Loake, and he and co-di­rec­tors Cath Hough and Brigg Simp­son have built a busi­ness which ser­vices the UK’s largest food, nu­traceu­ti­cals, soft drinks and pet food com­pa­nies.

Steve said: “This month we will be cel­e­brat­ing our 21st birth­day and our sub­stan­tial 2015 growth fig­ures, mak­ing for a dou­ble cel­e­bra­tion.

“Heavy in­vest­ment in key busi­ness plat­forms such as IT, train­ing and de­vel­op­ment, cus­tomer ser­vice pro­cesses, QA pro­ce­dures and our con­tin­u­ally ex­panded prod­uct ranges have pro­vided a sig­nif­i­cant com­pet­i­tive ad­van­tage for the busi­ness, and we are now ben­e­fit­ting from this.

“Not a busi­ness to rest on its lau­rels, we have set our­selves an am­bi­tious growth tar­get for 2016.”
