Gardeners flock to popular plant sale
MORE than 500 gardeners enjoyed the Macclesfield Potato Day sale of seeds and plants in the Town Hall.
The event was organised by Food4Macc, a voluntary organisation set up to promote residents growing their own food.
Colin Townend, chairman, said: “This is our third year of running this sale and we were really pleased to see so many local gardeners turn out to buy the seeds, bulbs, plants, fruit trees and bushes they need for the coming season.”
He added: “We have a good team of volunteers, and together with the staff of the town hall they make it an enjoyable event to host.
“We met quite a few members of local allotment societies at the sale, and were pleased to hear that there are some allotments available at Dean Row following devolution from Cheshire East.”
Food4Macc also hosts community garden sessions. The next working party event will tackle at Heritage Walk on Tues- day, February 16, at 2pm.
Meet at the corner of Churchill Way and Exchange street, Macclesfield. Everyone is welcome to turn up and join in. Please wear suitable clothing. For more information go to food4macc. org.
