Mary has the power to be crowned care home’s most ac­tive res­i­dent

A CARE home res­i­dent has won an award for be­ing the most ac­tive.

Mary Fer­rell, a res­i­dent at Park­lands in Poyn­ton, was crowned ‘Ac­tive Res­i­dent of the Month’ by Age Ac­tive, an or­gan­i­sa­tion which pro­vides fit­ness pro­grammes for older peo­ple in the North West.

The 90-year-old beat 400 Age Ac­tive par­tic­i­pants to win the award and was pre­sented with a tro­phy and medal to mark her achieve­ment.

While Mary’s tal­ent lies in leg ex­er­cises, her favourite ac­tiv­ity, she is also skilled at throw­ing and catch­ing.

Denise Gleaves from Park­lands said: “Mary didn’t ex­pect to win at all, but was re­ally pleased with her achieve­ment and didn’t take off her medal for a whole week.”
