Students’ Broadway tribute

Macclesfield Express - - HEART OF THE COMMUNITY -

MUSICAL lovers at Fa l l i b r o o m e Academy helped stage their own tribute to Broadway.

Year 13 students, Matt Jevons, Louise Claffey and Will Rutley produced An Evening on Broadway with minimal help from staff.

They put together a very well written proposal then planned everything including auditions, rehearsals, arrangements, refreshments, decorations and advertising.

Matt Jevons said: “Will, Louise and I all love musicals and we wanted to have one final show at Fallibroome as well as giving the Performing Arts department the chance to sit back and enjoy a show rather than being backstage.

“When I began with the initial concept I had no idea what level of organisation was going to be required, from casting to scheduling and running rehearsals, to writing musical arrangements.

“We realised we needed a conductor for the band and before I knew it I was also stood in front of the stage conducting a full band and horn section, which was quite the shock for myself, as a drummer.

“The show had a hugely unexpected turnout and I am immensely proud of everyone involved.”
