Race day reward for scouts
SCOUTS got a racing treat to thank them for their fundraising efforts.
The 1st Hurdsfield scout unit enjoyed a trip to one of biggest indoor Scalextric tracks in the UK.
It was a reward for their hard work at a recent supermarket bag pack at Sainsbury’s, where they raised £900 towards the upkeep of their scout hut.
Group chairman Greg Carter said “The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts worked really hard during the recent bag pack, helping with some pretty huge Christmas shops.
“We thought it would be nice to show our appreciation, and they certainly had a great time out.”
The children had a few practice goes on the huge eight-lane track before taking part in time trials, where the fastest three were chosen.
Group Scout leader Warren Tyler said: “We had a lovely time – it’s always good to see the smiles.
“It takes a lot of hard work to keep our scout hut and minibus on the road so the bag packs are a lifeline.
“We had a great turnout for the hard work, so it was nice to reward them with this.”
