KERRIDGE AND RAINOW School report is outstanding
STAFF and pupils at a village primary school are celebrating getting top marks from a school watchdog.
Rainow Primary School received an ‘outstanding’ report from Ofsted when inspectors took a detailed look at the village school.
Mark Bertinshaw, headteacher, said: “This is a wonderful Ofsted report which rightly recognises the exceptional standards of achievement and outstanding behaviour of our children; it is a testimony to the hard work and talents of the staff, governors and pupils at the school.”
Inspectors observed lessons, children’s behaviour and looked in their books. As well as meetings with staff, they also spoke to the pupils both in a meeting and informally in the play ground to discuss their opinions about the school.
In a summery of key findings, lead Inspector Ian Hardman praised headteacher Mr Bertinshaw for his ‘exceptional leadership’.
It read: “The headteacher provides exceptional leadership.
“This results in all pupils thriving in a welcoming and nurturing environment.
“Senior and middle leaders share the same passion and vision as the headteacher and lead their areas of responsibility with skill and rigour.
“Outstanding teaching over time has resulted in excellent outcomes for pupils in reading, writing and mathematics. Pupils make outstanding progress throughout the school and are prepared exceptionally well for the next stage of their education.”
Pupils were also praised for their behaviour.
The report concluded: “Behaviour in lessons and around school is exemplary.
“Pupils love coming to school and say they feel part of a large family. “Pupils rarely miss a day of school and all pupils attend well.”
