Senior on top in Styal’s senior event
STYAL’S ever-active seniors were in two competitions with a Four Club Stableford seeing Clive Senior show his flexible talents with a winning score of 38 points well clear of Richard Vaal 34 and Paul Lawday, Steve Wild and Dave Marriott, all 33.
Two days later they were in Winter League action with Richard Vaal as the top gun with 40 points from Harry Reid 37 and Chris Baillie 36.
In a Two from Three Team Stableford at Styal Alan Brooks, Eddie Birchenough and Ian Burnage cruised to victory with 85 points leaving Steve Weaver, Roger Rowland and Harry Reid five points adrift.
In a Sunday Stableford at Styal the leading ladies were Claire Whitney 32 and Helen Billington 24.
A Thursday Stableford at Shrigley Hall was won by Howard Rowley with 40 points from Richard Burrow 38 and Lynn Heathcote 37.
The Ninth Round of the Shrigley Winter League had a clear winner in Daniel Henshaw with 41 points ahead of Richard Burrow 38 and Ian Wadsworth and Niall Lynch, both 37.
Medal action at Mottram Hall had Ross Birch on fire with 64 from Mike Davis 67 and Peter Smith and Robert Parry, both 68.
Alderley Edge ladies played a Yellow Ball am am and it was won by Sandra Smith, Mary O’Toole and President Gwyneth Holt.
The Alderley Edge Winter League saw the Captain and professional win a keen contest with Steve Yakub and Ian Broughton by 5/3 and the team of Foden, Peck, Lane and Fesmer still lead them by two points.
A pro’s 9-hole Stableford at Alderley saw the divisions topped by Mike Troup and David Sibanda with 19 and 23 points respectively and a good round by Andy Wells keeps him on top of the Winter Aggregate.
Macclesfield’s men played a Maxas Scramble with Andy Baker and Chris Hawkins leading in with 39.8 from Peter Lloyd and Sean Smith 40.2 and Mark Brierley and Peter Holmes 40.8.
