Silkmen tipped for home victory

BOTH Macclesfield and Dover, who meet on Saturday, still have plenty to play for as they both endeavour to secure a play-off berth.

Home advantage accounts for Town’s installation as Ladbrokes’ 6/4 favourites to claim three points, whereas Dover, who have games in hand on most of their rivals, can be backed at 2/1 with William Hill. The draw is offered at 13/5 by Boylesports.

Conference spectators suffered from a relative dearth of goals last week – only 23 were scored in 10 fixtures, four of which ended as draws. As the season gallops towards its denouement, this is worthy of note.

It is often the case that a 1-1 draw is the correct score market’s most popular outcome (the likelihood of us seeing the same result at Macclesfield on Saturday is priced at 6/1 by Skybet), but there’s probably a greater chance that the match will be settled by a single goal. Only one Conference contest ended 1-1 last week and while this might be an isolated case, the scale of BetVictor’s 10/3 for Macclesfield to win by a one-goal margin could persuade punters it is the weekend’s most compelling wager.
