National award for farming champion
AFARMING champion who represents the rural community around Macclesfield won a national award for his work.
Keith Brightmore represents farmers in the Macclesfield branch of the National Farmers Union (NFU) which champions British farming and growing.
The organisation in Macclesfield and around the country aims to give farmers a voice on issues which affect them and their businesses.
Keith won the award for being the top performer for recruitment and retention of members to the NFU in the North West region covering Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria.
Keith, group secretary for the branch, was pre- sented with his award at the NFU’s annual National Achievement Awards Dinner black tie event at The Belfry Hotel and Resort in London, with 170 group secretaries from across the country.
The awards were presented by NFU president Meurig Raymond.
Helen Wainwright, who is the new Cheshire County Adviser for the NFU North West Region, said: “This was one of only 10 awards for the whole of the NFU England and Wales.
“It’s a fantastic achievement by Keith.”
