Artist Zoe launches courses
AN artist famed for her paintings of stars is launching art therapy lessons at Poynton community centre.
Zoe Watson, from Poynton, is running the creative recovery art course from March 3.
It aims to help people kickstart the healing process whether they’re receiving treatment, are recovering from an illness, or just need to relax and find a creative outlet to deal with a disability.
Zoe, 51, said: “I decided to become a creative therapist after working with patients at St Ann’s Hospice.
“Art is a great way of escaping the norms of life and can literally transport you into a safe haven of tranquillity and peace, and very often along the way we have a lot of sometimes raucous laughter.
“I love to paint and I really understand the health benefits of relaxing and doing something you enjoy and I want people to be become aware of the benefits and their own talents.
“Art is indeed a joy, and it gives joy to anyone who is willing to give it a go.
“Some get immersed in the paintings and the crafts, others enjoy the artwork as much as the chat and ambience of the sessions.
“Art creates a feeling of well-being, it’s nice to be a little lost inside an activity to take away from whatever situations a person may be experiencing and send them away a little lighter and a little brighter.
“That’s my ultimate aim along with the art that is created.”
