Fed up dad is pro­mot­ing dog poo cam­paign

A DAD is back­ing a colour­ful cam­paign en­cour­ag­ing dog own­ers to clean up af­ter their pets.

Martin Smith, of Prest­bury Road, is pro­mot­ing Izzy’s Poopy Shoo, a pro­ject to bat­tle one of the town’s dirt­i­est prob­lems.

Us­ing colour­ful, eye-catch­ing posters de­signed by car­toon­ist Marc Jack­son, Martin is hop­ing fam­i­lies across the town will put them in their win­dows.

Martin, who was an in­de­pen­dent can­di­date in last May’s bor­ough coun­cil elec­tions, hopes the cam­paign takes off na­tion­ally.

Martin said: “There are A DANCE school is cel­e­brat­ing af­ter it was se­lected to rep­re­sent Team Eng­land at the Dance World Cup.

Bella Danza Dance School, which meets at Duke’s Court in the town cen­tre, will travel to the Chan­nel Is­land of Jersey for the event in June.

This year the group has qual­i­fied in four cat­e­gories: mini bal­let group, for chil­dren aged five to nine; chil­dren’s bal­let group, age nine to 13; ju­nior mod­ern and con­tem­po­rary group, age 11 to 17; and chil­dren’s al­ways go­ing to be in­stances where the el­derly, or visu­ally im­paired own­ers strug­gle in clear­ing up af­ter their dogs, but it stands to rea­son the more peo­ple we can en­cour­age to pick up their dog’s poop the more we will all ben­e­fit from cleaner streets.”

Izzy’s Poopy Shoo was in­spired by his neigh­bour’s six-year-old daugh­ter Izzy, who was so fed up with the is­sue she put a hand-drawn poster in her front win­dow.

Martin liked the idea so much he de­vel­oped it on so­cial me­dia, cre­at­ing a Face­book page to en­cour­age other chil­dren to do the same in their area. bal­let solo on pointe.

It is the se­cond con­sec­u­tive year the group will have trav­elled to the com­pe­ti­tion. Last year they helped Team Eng­land win the over­all ti­tle for the third year in a row.

Rashana Viger­staff from the school said: “In to­tal 40 girls, plus par­ents, sib­lings and teach­ers are fly­ing out to Jersey.

In the lat­est push for poo-free streets, Martin teamed up with busi­nesses Euroscales Ltd on Shaw Street and Kids Al­lowed on West Park Drive in Mac­cles­field to pro­duce some large ban­ners for out­side his chil­dren’s school, Parkroyal.

He said: “I’ve no­ticed an ap­palling amount of dog foul on the streets lead­ing to and on Athey Street.

“As there are no houses op­po­site the school the pre­vi­ous poster sham­ing tech­nique isn’t vi­able.” Fu­ture Fi­nal 2015, two girls won the Over­all Duet Ti­tle at The Stars of the Fu­ture Fi­nal 2015 and the high­est Duet Tro­phy Mark at Stock­port Fes­ti­val 2015.

“An­other girl was the win­ner at the Ju­nior Cabaret Chal­lenge at Wrex­ham Fes­ti­val 2015, an­other the Se­nior Cabaret Chal­lenge.

“Two girls won half schol­ar­ships for the English youth bal­let’s Nutcracker 2015, with one of the girls tak­ing the lead role in the bal­let, and two of the girls won places on the Stage­box Elite Team.”
