DRIVER AR­REST

A 38-YEAR-OLD man has been ar­rested af­ter a two cars col­lided on Leek Road close to Bosley Cross­roads in Mac­cles­field.

Po­lice were called to a re­port of a col­li­sion in­volv­ing a Re­nault Clio and a Ford Mon­deo on Leek Road at around 3.15pm on Sun­day, Fe­bru­ary 28.

The pas­sen­ger of the Clio, a 37-yearold man from Stock­port, was air­lifted to Wythen­shawe Hos­pi­tal with a back in­jury. His in­juries were not be­lieved to be life-threat­en­ing.

The driver of the Ford Mon­deo was un­hurt.

A 38-year old man from Poyn­ton was ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of drug driv­ing and driv­ing with­out due care and at­ten­tion and re­leased on bail un­til April 3.

CIG­A­RETTE FIRE

SMOK­ERS are en­cour­aged to check their cig­a­rettes are out be­fore bin­ning them af­ter a small fire broke out at a shop­ping cen­tre.

Fire­fight­ers were alerted to a small fire in a cig­a­rette tray fixed to a wall on Mill Street, out­side Grosvenor Shop­ping Cen­tre, on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 28 at around mid­day.

A spokesper­son from Cheshire East Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice said: “We would ad­vise peo­ple to make sure they ex­tin­guish all cig­a­rettes fully be­fore dis­pos­ing of them.”
