Fast food at hand as burger chain launches home de­liv­ery

FAST Food fans in Mac­cles­field will soon be able to or­der Whop­pers with­out leav­ing their house as Burger King rolls out a new de­liv­ery ser­vice.

The chain has been run­ning ‘below-the-radar’ tri­als of its de­liv­ery ser­vice in Manch­ester since be­fore Christ­mas.

It has proved a roar­ing suc­cess that it is un­der­stood Burger King plans to in­tro­duce the ser­vice to branches in Mac­cles­field and Bolton.

The US-owned chain an­nounced plans to pi­lot food-to-home de­liv­er­ies at eight of its branches last year. But it has now rolled out the ser­vice to a fur­ther 34 branches across the UK.

Burger King in Fal­low­field was the first in Manch­ester to launch the ser­vice last De­cem­ber, team­ing up with de­liv­ery firm Hun­gry­house to drop off to ad­dresses around re­gion.

Cur­rently they de­liver in a two-mile ra­dius from 12pm to 10pm each day – with up to 400 or­ders be­ing placed a week. Al­though de­liv­ery is free, there is a min­i­mum spend of £14.

A spokesman for Burger King said: “The ser­vice has been good so far, con­sid­er­ing it is still rel­a­tively new.”
