Patients warned over strike action
MACCLESFIELD Hospital is bracing itself after junior doctors announced three further strikes.
The British Medical Association (BMA) says staff will walk out for 48 hours over attempts to introduce a new contract of employment for junior doctors from 8am on Wednesday, March 9.
East Cheshire NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, is warning that some outpatient appointments will be affected.
A spokesman for the trust said: “The Trust apologises for any inconvenience caused and asks for our patients’ understanding during the action, which is currently due to be followed by further 48-hour strikes starting at 8am on April 6 and 8am on April 26.
“With the most recent action set to last significantly longer than the previous 24 hour strikes, the trust is anticipating that a significant number of outpatient appointments at its three hospital sites will need to be postponed.”
Any patients affected will be contacted by Monday or Tuesday next week. Patients who do not receive a call should attend their appointments as normal.
