Olympic star opens Aldi
OLYMPIC cyclist Jason Kenny was the star as Aldi opened the doors to its new store in Poynton.
To celebrate the opening, Aldi handed out golden envelopes to the first 100 people in the queue, each containing a prize.
Star prize winner John Walton, who queued from 10pm the evening before to get his hands on golden ticket, walked away with a 55-inch TV. Other customers won a Aldi hamper, Smartphone 5, HD action camcorder, bags of Aldi shopping and vouchers to spend in store.
Located on London Road South, the store was officially opened by Jason Kenny and store manager, David Styan, in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The new store has created 30 new jobs and bosses are still looking for 12 staff to join the team.
Mr Styan, said: “There was a real buzz as the store opened and we are pleased to have had such positive feedback from members of the local community.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone in Poynton for their patience as we have been working on the development, and we hope our new store offers greater shopping choice and convenience for shoppers in the area.”
