Keep the spirit up says Pilks
MATTHEW BOSTOCK GEORGE Pilkington has spoke of the importance of Macc maintaining their high spirits if they are to achieve a play-off spot.
The Silkmen’s centre-back spoke about how pleased he was for the team to get back on track with a goalless draw against Wrexham on Saturday.
“It was a fair a result overall, it was a tough game. They had a couple of chances, they hit the post and had a couple of scrambles off corners but the lads worked really hard and it was nice to keep a clean sheet. It’s something to build on looking forward.
“Our form has slid down a bit recently but we have been working really hard on the training pitch and hopefully now we have turned a corner. We have 12 games left so we need to try and accumulate as many points as we can.
“I think the mood among the lad is great and we worked hard for each other, which is what you need to do in this league. We just need to build on the clean sheet and try and get another one next week and the week after.”
On Saturday’s trip to Altrincham, Pilkington said: “It’s always a hard game. Form sort of goes out the window in those games really because they are on a good run, but we just need to make sure we roll our sleeves up for every game between now and the end of the season.”
