HIGH School students have represented their college in a public speaking competition.

James Musgrave and Aidan Hughes, who are students at All Hallows Catholic College, represented the school in the North West Public Speaking competition.

The event took place at Manchester’s conference centre in the Pendulum Hotel, with more than 100 people in the audience.

Both students prepared with the help of Carmel Friend.

James talked about ‘The voice of democracy is no proof of justice’, and Aidan Hughes entered with his speech ‘There is sufficient in the world for man’s needs but not man’s greed’.

James, who came in second place and won £75 for his efforts, said: “Although it was a daunting experience it really helped build my confidence speaking in public.

“It has been a great experience and I learnt many useful skills to take forward.”
