Farmer Han­nah is elected to top post

A YOUNG farmer from Rainow has been elected chair­lady of the Cheshire Fed­er­a­tion of Young Farm­ers.

Han­nah Bar­ton, 25, has been a keen mem­ber of Mac­cles­field Young Farm­ers for the past 11 years, tak­ing part in ev­ery­thing from the ju­nior quiz, de­bate, Cheshire Show floats and en­ter­tain­ment com­pe­ti­tions to name a few.

She has been Mac­cles­field’s club chair­lady for two years, in 2011 and again in 2013, and was also crowned the Cheshire Dairy Queen in 2010 show­ing her ded­i­ca­tion for Young Farm­ers through­out the years.

Han­nah, whose grand­mother Mar­garet Al­laby owns JJJ Heath­cotes Butch­ers Ltd, said: “I am so ex­cited for the year ahead and en­cour­ag­ing all of our 700-plus ex­ist­ing mem­bers and more young peo­ple aged be­tween 13-30 to get in­volved from ei­ther a farm­ing or non farm­ing back­ground.

“I feel very hon­oured and priv­i­lege to have been elected.

“A huge thank you must go to my mother for her en­cour­age­ment and sup­port through­out the years, al­low­ing me to take on the role.”
