Firm is named ‘best em­ployer’

A CHAR­ITY has been named ‘best em­ployer’ in a na­tional awards cer­e­mony.

Ac­tive Cheshire, which com­mis­sions sports and ac­tiv­i­ties across the bor­ough to en­cour­age peo­ple to get more ac­tive, has gained the ac­co­lade of ‘Best Em­ployer’ in the 2015 Best of the Best Busi­ness Awards.

The Best of the Best Busi­ness Awards hon­our the out­stand­ing achieve­ments of dy­namic lo­cal busi­nesses and en­trepreneurs in each county.

A panel of in­de­pen­dent ex­pert judges se­lect win­ners ac­cord­ing to strict cri­te­ria for each cat­e­gory.

Mark Greaves, chair­man of the Ac­tive Cheshire board said: “Peo­ple are our great­est as­set at Ac­tive Cheshire.

“We are so proud and grate­ful to have our en­deav­ours to sup­port and grow them recog­nised ex­ter­nally.

“I am re­ally hon­oured to lead such a great group of peo­ple.”

Anne Boyd, chief ex­ec­u­tive of Ac­tive Cheshire, who was named North West Busi­ness Woman of the Year 2015, said: “Our joint staff and trustee team are thrilled to re­ceive such an ac­co­lade.

“It re­flects the ef­forts we have made to in­vest in the health, well­be­ing and pro­fes­sional growth of our peo­ple.”

Over the past three years Ac­tive Cheshire pi­o­neered a whole mar­ket ap­proach in its com­mis­sion­ing of sport and phys­i­cal ac­tiv­ity and in­creased rev­enue by more than 40 per cent, en­abling an ad­di­tional 27,000 peo­ple to get more ac­tive.

Ac­tive Cheshire, which ad­vo­cates the ben­e­fits of phys­i­cal ac­tiv­ity on the health and well­be­ing of in­di­vid­u­als, aims to get 50,000 more peo­ple, more ac­tive, more of­ten, by 2017.
