Tigers have ‘amazing’ treble in sights
TREBLE-CHASING Macclesfield Tigers under 16s are preparing for what promises to be their most successful climax to a season ever.
On Sunday they will take on rivals Sandbach United in the MidCheshire District Cup final at Lostock Gralam (kick off 2pm).
And the club has lined up a second meeting with the talented Sandbach outfit – in the League Cup final – on Sunday April 24.
Tigers, who currently lie second in the MidCheshire Youth League first division and have scored 90 goals this season, are also vying for their first ever league title with four games to play.
The Macclesfield team has reached both district and league cup finals in the last two years but finished runners-up.
They were also Division One runners-up last season. A core of Tigers’ 15-man squad, drawn from Fallibroome, All Hallows and Tytherington schools, has been together since they were seven years old.
Their manager, Glyn Evans, is looking forward to the challenge.
“The Tigers have an exciting six games to come which can deliver an amazing treble,” he said. “The lads have worked for many years for the opportunity to create a slice of history.
“They’ve shown desire, attitude, belief and passion. And, such is their dedication, they’ve come out to do extra training sessions ahead of the finals.”
