Work to be done
MACCLESFIELD Town manager John Askey admits there is still lots of work to be done after his side’s run without a win stretched to eight games.
The Silkmen came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Lincoln City on Saturday, leaving them 11 points from the play-off places with nine matches remaining.
Jamie McCombe opened the scoring for the visitors before Danny Whitehead equalised in the second half.
Lincoln’s goal came from a free-kick, and Askey was disappointed with how his team handled the set-piece.
“It’s still an area I’m not comfortable with. We work and work and then during the first free kick we concede after just switching off, so it’s just not good enough,” he said.
“How can you legislate for it? All you can do is practice on the training ground over and over and over, and as you can imagine that’s what we’ve done but again it’s our Achilles heel.”
While Askey was frustrated with that aspect of the match, he did feel there were certain improvements on display
