●» AN arson investigation has been launched after a car fire.

Fire crews were called to Bullocks Lane, Sutton, just before 5.45am on Wednesday, March 16. They found a car well alight on the road and started using a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze.

But while crews were fighting the fire the fuel tank split on the car so they had to start using foam.

Crews also had to move a nearby vehicle to prevent it becoming involved.

Fire investigators believe the fire was started deliberately and police are now appealing for anyone with information is urged to call them on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
