Bosley get preparatio­ns under way

BOSLEY Tug of War Club have begun training for the 2016 outdoor tug of war season.

The club go into 2016 looking to compete at the Tug of War Associatio­n National Outdoor Tug of War Championsh­ips in June, which this year are taking place locally in Cheshire at Macclesfie­ld Rugby Club.

The club are always looking for new members to boost their squad and mount a strong campaign for medals, especially this year with the championsh­ips being on the doorstep, and the team are hopeful that with hard training over the coming season that they will be able to mount a strong challenge and win national championsh­ip gold.

Tug of war training takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7.30pm, and training sessions are open to anyone (male and female) aged 15 and over to take part.

Training sessions are free of charge and open to all, whether you want to take up the sport seriously, or if you just want to get fit and strong in your spare time and are looking at something alternativ­e to attending a gym.

The team hosts its annual club competitio­n on Sunday 3rd April, and this year, Glebe Farm in Astbury will be the venue, with teams from all over the country taking part, including a number of teams who have won national and internatio­nal championsh­ip medals over the years.

Glebe Farm has a farm shop, tea rooms, shops, and studios, children’s play area, petting farm, tractor rides, and children’s arts and crafts, so with the tug of war competitio­n as well, should make for a good family day out.

The event will start at 11am and spectators are welcome to come along and support the teams on the day and find out a bit more about what the sport is all about.

The club is also running its annual fund raising event in aid of the East Cheshire Hospice on Sunday 10th July.
