Academy hosts young singers for music celebration
PUPILS from 16 primary schools came together in a massive celebration of music.
The schools, which included Marlborough and Parkroyal, assembled for the Macclesfield Music Festival at Macclesfield Academy.
Over two evenings, 30 pupils from each school in years three to six came together as a 200-strong choir to perform a medley backed by a band from the Academy.
Highlights included a joint guitar and drums display by pupils from Macclesfield Academy and Parkroyal Primary.
The festival, now in its second year, was attended by Macclesfield MP David Rutley and Coun Hilda Gaddum, Mayor of Cheshire East Council.
Speaking at the festival Mr Rutley said: “It was great to be able to support the festival again this year.
“The festival is a really positive way of bringing schools together, and creating a truly memorable experience.
“The performances were superb, but even more importantly, everyone who attended could sense the enjoyment the pupils were getting from taking part and performing.
“I would like to thank everyone who helped to organise it and, of course, all the performers over both nights.”
