●● Plant con­tain­er­grown out­door grape vines. ●● Di­vide hostas be­fore they come into leaf. ●● When space be­comes avail­able in the green­house, pot up cut­tings of ten­der peren­ni­als taken last sum­mer. ●● Plant roses in heavy soils or in cold ar­eas of the gar­den. ●● Pro­tect new growth on lil­lies, del­phini­ums and any other plants af­fected by slugs and snails. ●● Re­move dead leaves from around the basal rosettes of alpine plants to pre­vent rot­ting. ●● Plant all of those herba­ceous peren­ni­als, in­clud­ing gera­nium, as­tran­tia and Ori­en­tal pop­pies. ●● Sow sweet pep­pers, toma­toes, cu­cum­bers, aubergines, cel­ery, sal­ads and globe ar­ti­chokes in a frost-free green­house. ●● Re­move any re­verted green shoots on hardy, var­ie­gated ever­greens. ●● Cut out the top rosette of leaves from stems of ma­ho­nia x me­dia cul­ti­vars to en­cour­age branch­ing.
