Power cuts hit 800 homes
HUNDREDS of residents were left in the dark after a series of power cuts on Friday night.
More than 800 homes in Macclesfield were affected on Prestbury Road, Parr Street, Bond Street and Lyon Street.
Readers took to the Express’ Facebook page in confusion after the cuts.
Frank Fisher said: “My TV and a friend’s has blown. I wonder if anyone else has had property damaged and what the position is regarding compensation?”
Anne Marie Glover said: “This is the fourth power cut, this is ridiculous, what the hell is going on?”
A spokesman from Electricity North West said: “An underground cable fault caused the loss of power to 809 customers in Macclesfield on Friday night at 10.41pm.
“Our engineers quickly arrived on site and restored power to 333 customers at 10.57pm, a further 390 customers at 11pm and the remaining 86 customers at 11.46pm.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“We haven’t received reports of damage to equipment but customers can contact us 24/7 on 0800 195 4141 and we can investigate.”
