Sunny day for MP at cafe
STAFF and residents at a recovery centre welcomed Macclesfield’s MP to their cafe for a special lunch.
Saddlebridge Recovery Centre, based on Chelford Road, Nether Alderley, is a unit for people with mental health difficulties, run by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP).
The team and residents hosted Macclesfield MP David Rutley at its Sunny Cafe, a working cafe where people can learn and develop new skills as part of their recovery.
Mr Rutley sampled some of the homemade produce and had a hot drink with staff and service users.
He also visited the Saddlebridge Unit and met with staff and residents. David said: “I was very pleased to be able to visit Sunny Café and the Saddlebridge Unit, and find out more about the important work being done to support people using CWP services.
“This is a positive and pro-active project, which helps develop skills for all those involved.
“I would like to thank everyone who has taken part in the development of the café.”
Sunny Café, based at York House in Nether Alderley, sees service users choosing the menus, preparing food, serving customers, using the till and clearing up.
Some ingredients are sourced from a small allotment alongside York House which they help to maintain.
