Sunny day for MP at cafe

STAFF and res­i­dents at a re­cov­ery cen­tre wel­comed Mac­cles­field’s MP to their cafe for a spe­cial lunch.

Sad­dle­bridge Re­cov­ery Cen­tre, based on Chelford Road, Nether Alder­ley, is a unit for peo­ple with men­tal health dif­fi­cul­ties, run by Cheshire and Wir­ral Part­ner­ship NHS Foun­da­tion Trust (CWP).

The team and res­i­dents hosted Mac­cles­field MP David Rut­ley at its Sunny Cafe, a work­ing cafe where peo­ple can learn and de­velop new skills as part of their re­cov­ery.

Mr Rut­ley sam­pled some of the home­made pro­duce and had a hot drink with staff and ser­vice users.

He also vis­ited the Sad­dle­bridge Unit and met with staff and res­i­dents. David said: “I was very pleased to be able to visit Sunny Café and the Sad­dle­bridge Unit, and find out more about the im­por­tant work be­ing done to sup­port peo­ple us­ing CWP ser­vices.

“This is a pos­i­tive and pro-ac­tive project, which helps de­velop skills for all those in­volved.

“I would like to thank ev­ery­one who has taken part in the de­vel­op­ment of the café.”

Sunny Café, based at York House in Nether Alder­ley, sees ser­vice users choos­ing the menus, pre­par­ing food, serv­ing cus­tomers, us­ing the till and clear­ing up.

Some in­gre­di­ents are sourced from a small al­lot­ment along­side York House which they help to main­tain.
