En­gi­neers share their In­dia ex­port suc­cess with MP

BOSSES at an engi­neer­ing com­pany shared the se­crets of its in­ter­na­tional suc­cess with the town’s MP.

Mac­cles­field MP David Rut­ley vis­ited Opus Tech­ni­cal Ltd which is set to ex­port new foam mak­ing equip­ment for the first time to the largest foam pro­ducer in In­dia.

Chair­man Bill Black­well spoke of the com­pany’s plans and how its de­vel­op­ment work is ben­e­fit­ting foam com­pa­nies glob­ally.

Opus Tech­ni­cal Ltd, a fam­ily firm based at Melville Road, Mac­cles­field, is a mar­ket leader in equip­ment and tech­nol­ogy for the polyurethane foam in­dus­try, with more than 80 per cent of busi­ness ex­ported.

The firm also works to pro­mote engi­neer­ing within schools, and is cur­rently work­ing with A-level stu­dents from the King’s School as part of the Engi­neer­ing Ed­u­ca­tion Scheme run by the Engi­neer­ing Trust.

Speak­ing fol­low­ing the meet­ing, Mr Rut­ley said: “It was great to meet Bill and find out more about the busi­ness.

“The ex­port deal with In­dia is an ex­cit­ing de­vel­op­ment, and is a good ex­am­ple of how lo­cal en­trepreneurs are suc­cess­fully re­al­is­ing im­por­tant ex­port op­por­tu­ni­ties.

“I am also pleased that the team is work­ing hard to pass its en­thu­si­asm for engi­neer­ing to the next gen­er­a­tion.”
