Let’s show what we can do says Watson
STEVE Watson hopes Macclesfield Town can remind the rest of the division what they are capable of when they play champions Cheltenham Town.
The Silkmen host Cheltenham at the Moss Rose on Saturday, with the Robins already promoted to League Two.
They have lost just five of their 44 matches this season, but Watson insists Macc are capable of picking up three points if they play at their best.
“We play the team that’s going up so it’s a chance to put a little reminder out there about how good we can be,” he said.
“I’ve been working a lot on TV covering this league and I’ve not seen a better team than us when we play the football that we play and when we work as hard as we do as we’re solid at the back.”
Macclesfield head into the match on the back of a 1-0 victory over Guiseley last weekend, but Watson didn’t think it was a vintage performance.
“We set high standards in the last nine games but we gave the ball away too much against Guiseley,” he said. “We’ve played better and lost games so we’ll take an ugly 1-0. It was a hard game and it can be tough when you know you can’t get in the play-offs or go down.”
