Pott Shrigley’s start offers much promise
POTT Shrigley took 13 points from their opening game against Winsford.
Matt Tarr and Alex Jackson opened the season with a great start, taking the score into the 50s before the attacking innings of Tarr (27) came to an end, caught off a high one.
Jackson (22) then ran himself out having batted really well with some superb cover drives.
Another quick wicket fell before Jamie Hart (34) and Andy Matheson (24) steadied the middle order. Jason Hanaghan’s 38 then provided the late momentum to see Pott reach 175-8.
Right from the start steady bowling by Shrigley kept Winsford behind the over rate.
At 70-1, Winsford appeared set to push on but then lost four wickets for 20 runs and the game petered out despite Pott using eight bowlers in trying to temp batsmen into mistakes.
Matheson and Fitter each picked up two wickets and Barlow one.
It was a good all round display, giving Pott something to build on in future weeks.
