Ollie’s Army family in Superhero Day support
A TERMINALLY ill brother and sister have joined a campaign to support other families.
Five-year-old Ollie Carroll and sister Amelia, three, have Batten Disease – a devastating illness that will eventually leave them blind and unable to walk or eat.
The Carroll family, from Poynton, which includes mum Lucy, dad Mike and older brothers Micky, seven, and Danny, nine, are urging Express readers to get behind a major fundraising day for other ill families.
Key 103’s Cash for Kids Superhero Day – in partnership with the Express’s sister paper the M.E.N – is working with the When You Wish Upon A Star charity, which helps grant wishes of those with terminal illnesses, and aims to help five special children as part of the campaign.
Lucy, 31, whose family was treated to a trip to Center Parcs thanks to the charity, said:“It was absolutely incredible and the children all loved it so much.
“It gives them all something to look forward to rather than being in and out of hospital.
“It’s also been such a great support system to speak to other families in a similar situation to us.”
