THE an­nual meet­ing of Prestbury Parish Coun­cil will be held on Tues­day, May 17 at 7.30pm at Prestbury Vil­lage Hall.

The meet­ing will dis­cuss a re­port on the past year and fu­ture plans for the vil­lage. The meet­ing will pro­vide at­ten­dees with the op­por­tu­nity to see what is planned for the area, and the chance to chat to coun­cil­lors and have their say.

Every­one is wel­come to at­tend.

Tea and bis­cuits will be served af­ter the meet­ing.


A BIKER has been se­ri­ously in­jured af­ter col­lid­ing with a lorry.

The accident hap­pened on the Cat and Fid­dle near Mac­cles­field For­est at 3pm on Thurs­day, May 5.

Po­lice shut the road in both direc­tions while they in­ves­ti­gated.

The biker was taken by air am­bu­lance to Wythen­shawe Hospi­tal with se­ri­ous in­juries.

It is un­der­stood the lorry was a Re­nault HGV.

Wit­nesses are asked to con­tact po­lice on 101 quot­ing in­ci­dent num­ber 530


PO­LICE are in­ves­ti­gat­ing fol­low­ing an al­leged bur­glary on Ch­ester Road in Mac­cles­field.

A prop­erty at Grimshaw Lane, Bolling­ton, was also tar­geted at around the same time on Mon­day, May 9.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with bur­glary and as­sault­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer and was due to ap­pear in court as we went to press on Tues­day.


TRAINS were de­layed around Mac­cles­field Sta­tion due to a horse be­ing spot­ted near the track. A spokesman for Vir­gin Trains told the Ex­press that the an­i­mal was seen near the line be­tween Mac­cles­field and Stoke-on-Trent, near to Con­gle­ton, on May 4. The spokesman said: “Our trains are run­ning slightly slower past the Con­gle­ton area due to a horse be­ing spot­ted near the line.”
