Golfers on course for annual team battle
GOLFERS will soon be back in the swing of raising money at the East Cheshire Hospice Charity Golf Day.
The last few places are still available for the annual team event at Prestbury Golf Club on Thursday, June 16.
It is organised by John Davies, director of Mactex Properties Ltd, who was involved in the first tournament run by hospice fundraiser Margaret Broughton in 1984.
The golf event was revived two years ago after a short break and last year raised £8,000 – enough to fund 24 hours of care at the hospice.
Former golf professional Nigel Preston is one of the organisers.
The format is fourball betterball stableford (best two net scores count) and the cost is £375 a team.
A shotgun start at 1pm follows a light lunch with a presentation dinner at the club from 7pm.
The menu includes: homemade chicken liver and cognac parfait followed by slow braised lamb shank and summer fruits pavlova.
John said: “I’d like to thank everyone who supports the event and Prestbury Golf Club for their kind hospitality each year.
“East Cheshire Hospice is such a wonderful cause and we’re delighted to raise funds for a charity which is such a vital part of our community.”
Anyone interested in entering a team or sponsorship can contact John via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
