Choir’s music night set to raise the fundraising bar
THE Claritas Choir will be displaying its versatile singing talents at a concert at Bollington Arts Centre on Friday, May 20, at 7.30pm.
Soloists Charlotte Jeffries and Sarah Doggett will support the choir, which raises funds for East Cheshire Hospice.
The choir will perform a wide range of well-known songs. Tickets, priced at £5, are available from the Bollington Arts Centre website www. bollingtonartscentre. co.uk.
Charlotte, aged 15, from Poynton, has taken lead roles in musicals Return to the Forbidden Planet and Avenue Q. She also plays clarinet and piano.
Sarah, a former pupil of The Fallibroome Academy, is a professional musician and has performed both on the stage and on albums with artists such as West End star Ruthie Henshall, Gwen Dickey from Rose Royce and Katrina and the Waves.
Sarah, who lives in Bollington, has toured with bands and has sung on ships and now teaches singing at her old school, among others.
There will also be a raffle at the concert with prizes donated by local businesses.
Claritas is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is already making plans for a special birthday concert in November.
Last year the choir donated a record £5,700 to the hospice from concerts.
Meanwhile, the choir is looking for a piano accompanist to work with its musical director Kath Ibbotson.
Good keyboard and sight-reading skills are required and time to accompany the choir at rehearsals and some concerts and perhaps lead an occasional rehearsal.
Previous experience in accompanying vocal/ instrumental groups or soloists would be an advantage.

Committee member Jan Ellis said: “New choir members are always welcome and there are no auditions.
“You just have to enjoy singing, both to bring pleasure and raise funds for East Cheshire Hospice which is the aim of our musical evening.”
Anyone interested in joining can email Melanie Flint, the membership secretary, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
