●● AN af­ter­noon of brass will take place at Sut­ton ExSer­vice­men’s Club on Hollin Lane in Sut­ton.

The club will host the event with Dove Holes Brass Band.

The band was es­tab­lished in 1877 and was soon com­pet­ing suc­cess­fully in con­tests.

In 1948, af­ter the war, the band was re­built with many young peo­ple re­ceiv­ing tu­ition and thrived again, pro­vid­ing mu­sic for the com­mu­nity.

The event is on Sun­day, May 15, 4pm.

Tick­ets cost £2 for mem­bers and £3 for guests. ●● THE WAIT is over for the cast and crew from theatre group Purvies Pro­duc­tions who will present their lat­est show this week­end.

Mem­bers will per­form Agatha Crusty and the Vil­lage Hall Mur­ders by Derek Webb from Thurs­day, May 12 to Satur­day, May 14 at Sut­ton scout and guide HQ, on Church Lane in Sut­ton.

The am­a­teur dra­mat­ics group was founded in 2002 by two friends in the vil­lage and has been per­form­ing reg­u­larly in the Sut­ton Scout and Guide HQ to raise funds.

This year the group has wel­comed sev­eral new mem­bers on stage as well as be­hind the scenes.
