●● AN afternoon of brass will take place at Sutton ExServicemen’s Club on Hollin Lane in Sutton.
The club will host the event with Dove Holes Brass Band.
The band was established in 1877 and was soon competing successfully in contests.
In 1948, after the war, the band was rebuilt with many young people receiving tuition and thrived again, providing music for the community.
The event is on Sunday, May 15, 4pm.
Tickets cost £2 for members and £3 for guests. ●● THE WAIT is over for the cast and crew from theatre group Purvies Productions who will present their latest show this weekend.
Members will perform Agatha Crusty and the Village Hall Murders by Derek Webb from Thursday, May 12 to Saturday, May 14 at Sutton scout and guide HQ, on Church Lane in Sutton.
The amateur dramatics group was founded in 2002 by two friends in the village and has been performing regularly in the Sutton Scout and Guide HQ to raise funds.
This year the group has welcomed several new members on stage as well as behind the scenes.
